5 years of DW with

Lustrouble [INTERVIEW]

Exactly 5 years ago, I re-created Discomfort Wings after my journey to Seoul in 2019. Over the years, I was able so far to cooperate with bands around the world on all continents, as well the Korean and Taiwanese Embassy of Germany and more contacts on different ways. (Genres/ Countries Link) and since 2021, I'm monthly available on 674.FM in cologne.

Throw back

Around the 90s/00s, a mass of Japanese Anime aired on TV worldwide, which created the first interest over soundtracks. With the beginning of YouTube and MySpace, it was already possible of listening international music, which brought me in 2006 to the first J-Rock concert in cologne.

The following years, I discovered heavy tunes via online from South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand. 2010, and suddenly blog spot appeared, the first era of blogging! During that time, there was already the website name "Discomfort Wings" til 2013. After visiting Tokyo/ Japan in 2014, I booked a flight for April 2019 to Seoul/ South Korea ...

Re-create DW in 2019 with band Lustrouble

During the vocation, it was a great experience to discover so many underground bands! It was also the kindness of the people, who is still in my mind. It was the start and motivation of re-creating the blog, after get to know band Lustrouble.

Lustrouble 스트러블

Lustrouble is a Korean Rock/ Metal band, based in Seoul since end 2018 - who sings about human's lust and love. Looking back to the concerts I could see so far from them, it always fascinated me, that the band has two vocals, who perfectly fit each other in song concepts. After that intro, what would perfectly fit better, as an interview with Lustrouble?

Hello guys, long time no see! Hope you are doing well so far!

Q: Can you introduce the current lineup to the audience?

Daeho, singer
Harin, singer
Jeff, guitarist
Sangun, bassist
Chad, drummer
All together, we are Lustrouble.

Q: What are your current musical influences lately?
Lustrouble is a mixed vocalist. We aim to secure popularity with female melodies and create a powerful sound with male growling. In that case, I would like to take motifs from BMTH, Coldrain, I prevail, etc. Above all, female vocals must be clearly revealed. That's why I especially pay attention to songs written by major bands such as Babymetal, Halestorm, and In this moment with men’s vocals.

Q: I saw, that your song “Get Sick“ (2019) was featured on WWE Korea! Congratulations! Can you explain more about it?
Professional wrestling requires powerful music due to the nature of the sport. It would be even better if the music had an agreed upon copyright. The broadcasting station (IB Sports) has a metal band vocalist as a commentator. So the problem was easily solved.
WWE holds hundreds of events a year, and our band is always willing to lend our music to them.

Q: Do you maybe know a German band or some words in that language?
Obviously, Rammstein would probably be the most well-known to all members. "Links 234" and "Amerika" comes to my mind. Chad has been playing Guano Apes covers, I guess "You can't stop me" has been on his cover list for a long time. About German language itself, I know how to say "Good day" and "Thank you." I'm sorry, but that's about it.

Q: What are your upcoming plans for the band? The final output – what means Discomfort Wings for you? / In some words
I can extend my previous answer for the new releases of Lustrouble more about the band's plan. As put out already, we are going through a serious transformation. New members' musical taste and influence must be integrated in another level. It is our focus to ensure all new releases in the near future satisfies us all. And of course due to the rough and tough times gave us more ideas and inspiration, so we're going to make sure that all be reflected in our works.

We admire that Discomfort Wings have introduced a variety of music and bands in the world, in such a holistic way. Including the pandemic, there has been so much discomfort in the world, and yet DW showed an amazing level of dedication and perseverance. You have already worked through all of hardships, accomplished quite an active archive of music. Mostly, music had usually been presented to people with some stereotypes, genres, and different regions. But DW does something different. You make us, we're all doing something worldwide. Hey, I think your being in the Facebook friends list actually made me realize that I should be working on something as a musician during the pandemic downtime. DW definitely serves that way, you make people aware that there's still music out there we should be working on.

We think it is the great channel that Lustrouble look up to, and a great platform.
