About Anime & Alternative

Japanese Music and the Anime scene had a huge impact on our 90s/ 00s generation in many aspects. Inspired from these elements, NUTEKI build up that vision in a band. Based in Belarus and founded in Moscow, Russia, let's discover today the evolution of an Alternative Rock band, that defined the media almost 20 years in East Europe. NUTEKI connects Europe and Asia in many aspects, such as been part of the Eurovision Song Contest for four times.

I discovered NUTEKI around 2015. Today, let's take a throw back to their beginning and to their upcoming projects in the music industry.

Back story

NUTEKI is an Alternative Rock band currently based from Minsk (Belarus) and founded 2007 by Mikhail Nokarashvili (vocals). The current members are Mikhail, Dmitriy Bezborody (bass guitar), Alexandr Naumov (guitar) and Andrey Ivanov (drums).

The group sings in three languages - Russian, Belarusian and English. NUTEKI are famous and well known for its fabulous and spectacular performances. These guys write their own lyrics and music, as well, created over the last almost 20 years their own style. They evolved and entered many Genre influences, such as Alternative, Rock/ Metal, Pop and Electronic Beats.

"Inspiration comes from everyday life - music reflects real feelings, challenges, troubles and dreams.

Shows must be performed in such a way that the people would still be interested to see them even with no audio".

Over the span of their career, NUTEKI took part in the Belarusian national contest to represent the country on Eurovision Song Contest four times. They became semifinalists in 2011, won the second place in 2013, became in fifth in 2014 and got second in 2017.

2007 - 2013 · The scene in Russia, Belarus & Ukraine

In February 2008, NUTEKI self-released their debut single "Glass of My Soul", which later became the band's most popular release to date. After this release, the band participated in the "Destined to Be Number One" music contest held in Moscow and managed to take the first place.

This achievement was incredibly important in the history of the band, seeing as all the members' ages ranged from 16 to 18 years during that period. Following the success, the band headlined the 45-date "Summer Music Festival" during the summer of the same year.

On August 1, 2010, the band's debut album "Digital Dreams" was released. In the beginning of 2011's Summer, the band started recording the music video for "The Clowns", which is released in June 2012. The year of 2011 was a very active period for the group, during which they had numerous concerts, including "The Big Clowns Show" tour across Ukraine. In February 2012 NUTEKI releases their first acoustic album called "Unplugged #1"

THE BGNNG (2014-2019)

In 2014, NUTEKI self-released their EP "THE BGNNG", which consists the first chapter of their second album and music video song "Wind Inside". In 2015, NUTEKI released their most known song "Дни-километры" (Days-Kilometers).
